Behind the Name
Divo Diva was founded by professional opera singers Victoria Robertson and Rosario Monetti—a name inspired by the playful, often teasing use of “diva” (female) and “divo” (male), terms commonly associated with opera singers. With a light nod to the stereotype, the duo leaned into the idea with humor and charm, building a brand around the belief that everyone has an inner “diva” and deserves to be treated as such. At Divo Diva Café, that means exceptional quality, warm hospitality, and an elevated café experience where every guest feels special.
Rosario brings decades of hospitality expertise, having owned a top-rated Italian restaurant in Napoli—now run by his extended family—and later (after several years of managing San Diego Restaurants) he purchased his first US business in Mission Hills, The Meshuggah Shack, in 2019. Victoria leads business strategy and operations, with a diverse background that includes producing travel television programs for AWE TV, launching multiple startup ventures, and co-founding the nonprofit Opera4Kids in 2019.
Together, they share two passions: performing live and enjoying exceptional coffee. That combination defines Divo Diva. What began as a neighborhood café has grown into a distinctive brand experience, including their signature Divo Diva Opera Dinner Shows—immersive evenings of live singing paired with Italian food and wine—as well as private and catered events.
Their vision continues to expand with the launch of the Divo Diva Travel Club, offering two-week curated journeys through Italy, organized and personally guided by Victoria and Rosario. Guests experience Napoli and the Amalfi Coast through Rosario’s roots, alongside regions such as Liguria and Tuscany through Victoria’s connection to Italy—blending culture, cuisine, and music.
At the heart of it all is their artistry. Both Victoria and Rosario have spent decades developing their craft with teachers around the world and have expanded their experience across multiple musical genres, including opera, pop, jazz, rock, and musical theater. They continue to perform together as Divo Diva, bringing live music to galas, weddings, concerts, and special events.
Their greatest passion is singing beautiful music and uplifting audiences through song (followed closely by a love of sipping exceptional Italian coffee).
Victoria Robertson
Soprano & Co-Owner of Divo Diva
Victoria Robertson is a soprano known for her powerful stage presence, expressive storytelling, and versatility across opera, musical theater, and international repertoire. She began her professional opera career at age 20 with the San Diego Opera, performing in over 25 productions across 12 seasons, while simultaneously building a career as a featured concert soloist.
Victoria has appeared as a guest soloist with the San Diego Symphony, La Jolla Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, and Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, and was a finalist in the Seattle Philharmonic soloist competition. She has won over ten classical singing competitions and scholarships, including two consecutive years in the Musical Merit Foundation Competition and the Carlsbad to Karlovy Vary International Competition in the Czech Republic.
A dynamic live performer, Victoria has toured performing arts centers across the United States, appearing in venues ranging from intimate halls to theaters seating over 2,500 including participating as an opening act and guest for The Texas Tenors at the Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley, Colorado. Her performances span operatic arias, crossover repertoire, and musical theater, allowing her to connect with a wide range of audiences.
Victoria’s performance career includes ten years of international touring with the USO after being awarded the title Miss USO San Diego. She performed for U.S. troops aboard aircraft carriers, in remote desert training bases, and at official government events worldwide, and served as the national anthem soloist for the Miramar Air Show for 15 consecutive years. Through Armed Forces Entertainment, she toured Greenland, England, the Netherlands, and Germany, bringing live performance to audiences of thousands of active duty troops.
In addition to her performing career, Victoria is a media producer and entrepreneur. She founded the virtual reality production company World Travel VR and is the co-founder of the start-up ForeStage Labs, a technology company that received an innovation grant from the San Diego Opera’s OperaHack program. Through her media work, she has traveled internationally creating visual content for the superyacht and private jet industries - working with an established private broker.
Victoria is also the co-founder of Opera4Kids, where she writes and performs opera stories alongside professional musicians, bringing live classical music to young audiences. Through Opera4Kids, she has collaborated with organizations including Classics 4 Kids, the La Jolla Symphony, Opera Santa Barbara, the Music Academy of the West, and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park.
Victoria studied with renowned tenor Michael Trimble and continues to bring a refined classical technique to performances ranging from large-scale concert stages to intimate events.
Rosario Monetti
Tenor & Co-Owner of Divo Diva
Rosario Monetti is an Italian-born tenor known for his rich, expressive voice and versatility across opera, classical crossover, jazz, and popular repertoire. Originally from Naples, Italy, he brings an authentic European musical tradition to every performance, combined with a natural ability to connect with audiences in both intimate and large-scale settings.
Rosario began his formal vocal training in Italy, studying under internationally recognized tenor Marcello Ferraresi and soprano Sandra Lepore of the Conservatory of Music S. Pietro a Majella in Naples. He continued his studies with maestro Davide Troja of the Conservatory of Music in Sassari, Sardinia, and further refined his technique with renowned soprano Katia Ricciarelli in Tuscany.
As a performer, Rosario has appeared throughout Italy and across Europe as both a soloist and as a member of the award-winning vocal ensemble Exsultate Deo, specializing in early music. He has performed principal roles in productions of Tosca and Madama Butterfly at Teatro Flaiano in Rome. He has also appeared as a headliner at the San Gennaro Feast in Las Vegas over multiple years, and his work has earned recognition through several national and international vocal competitions.
Now based in San Diego, Rosario performs regularly at Italian cultural festivals and concert events throughout California. He is sought out as the most authentic and requested Italian singer in San Diego and was awarded the Outstanding Member of the San Diego Italian Community 2023 of the year by the Sons and Daughters of Italy club. He has been featured several times as a guest performer for Italian Heritage Night at Petco Park, including performances of the national anthem for the San Diego Padres.
In addition to his performing career, Rosario has been an active cultural leader in the Italian-American community. He is the former Music Director of the San Diego Italian Film Festival, former Artistic Director of the Sicilian Festival in Little Italy for two consecutive years and former President of the House of Italy in San Diego. With such titles he played a key role in developing cultural programming and community events that promote Italian heritage and the arts.
Rosario’s work extends beyond the stage into the hospitality industry, where he brings over 30 years of experience as a restaurateur and entrepreneur. Having founded the notable Zenith Cafe in Naples, Italy with his father in 1993 to establishing his first US ownership purchasing the Meshuggah Shack in 2019, Rosario combines his love for hospitality with his love for entertainment. He has also appeared in several independent films as well as on the Peacock series "The Encore" staring Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.
